Police asked for the public’s help Wednesday to track down a transient accused of beating, tying up and robbing an employee of a Placentia self-storage business and escaping in the victim’s car.

The attack happened about 8:50 p.m. last Saturday in the 500 block of Porter Way, according to Placentia police Capt. Eric Point, who said the victim was treated at an area hospital for “moderate” head wounds.

The robber knocked the man unconscious after slamming him in the head with a metal object several times, Point said. When the victim awoke, he was tied up, his mouth was taped shut and he had a plastic bag over his head, the captain said.

The man, whose name was withheld, eventually managed to free himself and call police, who recovered his vehicle in Tustin on Sunday.

The suspect, identified as Michael Anthony Davis Jr., 40, frequents Placentia, Anaheim, Fullerton, Tustin and Santa Ana, according to police. A $100,000 warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Anyone with information on Davis’ whereabouts is encouraged to call police at (714) 993-8151. Police warn that he is considered “dangerous and should not be approached.”
